FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where are your products made?

Our pillows and slipcovered headboards are made from fabrics sourced from around the world. We take great pride in sourcing fabric from locations such as India, Europe, and Asia. Once the fabrics have been sourced, they are handcrafted by skilled artisans in Mexico.

How are the products made?

The products are made to order, oftentimes out of short run fabrics so supplies may be limited. All our fabrics are pre-washed for an unbelievable feeling of softness and texture. Once the fabrics are received they are delivered to our fabrication facility in Mexico where the cut and sew operation is completed. Then they are shipped to us in California for final inspection and order fulfillment.

Who designs Vaycance products?

All of our patterns, colors and designs are selected and/or created in house by Amanda Sandberg the co-founder and creative Director.

Information about the linen fabric we use:

Linen is made with flax, a plant native to northern Europe. There, the plant respects the land and surrounding wildlife; it protects soil and water resources as it needs no extra water (rain water alone is enough to grow it) and uses very little fertilizer or pesticide. The hardy plant can grow in poor soil conditions and is an excellent “break crop”, improving the quality of the soil as it grows. The crop also serves as a carbon sink – a single hectare of flax can remove 3.7 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere. In flax production, nothing is wasted. Every part of the plant is used to create linseed oil, paper, cattle feed or soap. Our yarn dyed linens are produced in Europe. The fabric is made using AZO-free dyes.

The pillows are dual sided, using the same beautiful fabric on both sides. The Otomi pillows use linen on the backside and hand embroidered Otomi on the front. The pillows are closed by a brass zipper beautifully integrated into the bottom edge seam.*Please note that as a custom, handmade pillow, no two are ever exactly the same. Color also varies across monitors. Our website photos are a close representation of this work, but may not be identical to the item you receive. We encourage you to order swatches before making a purchase.

Need a bed frame?

We recommend this brand for metal bed frames (see below for more information regarding attaching your headboard).

Information about our headboard slipcovers:

The headboard slipcovers are dual sided, using the same beautiful fabric on both sides. The Otomi slipcovers use linen on the backside and hand embroidered Otomi on the front. The slipcovers have a rear zipper offset to one side for easy access when you want to change them out or clean them. Please note that most manufactured headboards vary slightly in size. While our slipovers easily slide over most any headboard they are sized to fit the exact dimensions of the headboard frame we sell.

How does the headboard attach to my bedframe or the wall?

For most platform beds you can just lean the headboard against the wall and push the bed up against it. The weight of the bed will hold the headboard in place. If you wish to secure the frame to the wall you can easily drill and screw it to the wall through the wooden legs just below the bottom of the slipcover (so it still can easily come on and off). You can also bolt the headboard to your bed frame. We include mounting points and hardware to attach a standard metal bed frame but as no two bed frames are the same you may need to drill holes to match your frame.

Information about our headboard frame:

Our headboard frames are made from a solid hardwood frame clad with plywood on both sides to give it both strength and straightness. The frame is then professionally upholstered with heavy weight 100% polyester fabric that has the look and feel of linen. Even though these headboards are hidden most of the time with a slipcover they look and feel like a finished piece of furniture when the slipcover is off to the dry cleaner.
